          The College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Parbhani was established in the year 1972 as a constituent college of Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani in order to cater to the needs of people from Marathwada region of the state. Consequent upon formation of Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University at Nagpur, the institute was transferred under its control in the year 2000- 2001. The jurisdiction of this college is spread over four districts of Marathwada. The institute represents the rural part of Marathwada inclusive of small dairies, farmers with small to medium holdings of dairy cattle and buffaloes, poultry, sheep and goats on one hand and on the other, the developed part with Aurangabad as its commercial hub. Therefore, the college has a great deal of potential for veterinary education, research and extension work.
       The institute offers B. V. Sc. & A. H. degree program of five year‟s duration with annual intake capacity of 64 students. The B. V. Sc. & A. H. programme offered is as per the Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education – 2008 (MSVE-2008) prescribed by the Veterinary Council of India, New Delhi. At present, there are postgraduate programmes leading to M.V.Sc. degree in 19 disciplines with an overall annual intake capacity of 35 students and Ph.D. by course work in two disciplines with an annual intake capacity of two students each is as per the guidelines prescribed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. In the last 43 years, 2796 students have completed their B. V. Sc. & A. H. degree programme, 816 students have completed M.V.Sc. 23 Ph.D. degree by research, and 03 by course work in various disciplines of veterinary science. The Lower Education Section of the college monitors two years diploma course offered by Livestock Management and Dairy Production Schools affiliated to the University.

        The College has a well organized Livestock Research, Demonstration and Training Centre consisting of Livestock and Agriculture farms with adequate irrigation facilities. The farmers regularly visit the college farm for getting information on scientific animal husbandry practices. The farm produce and milk is being sold to the faculty members and students. The college farms are utilized well for teaching, research and entrepreneurial training of students.


        The TVCC is well equipped with basic facilities for teaching and demonstration. Students are provided adequate hands-on practice under the supervision of the faculty members at TVCC. A clinical pathology laboratory is functioning at TVCC which imparts training to final year students in Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosis.
